Vigilance Court rejects pleas against Jacob Thomas

In connection with alleged irregularities in the purchase of dredger, the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court on Tuesday rejected the petition demanding vigilance probe against Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas when he was the Ports Director.

The court, rejecting the plea said that the evidences submitted along with the petition, are not enough to initiate a probe against Thomas.

The court has also rejected the petition which said that Jacob Thomas misused his official position for personal gain by took leave from his official duties to teach in a private college.

The plea was filled by Michael Varghese, a native of Cherthala in Alappuzha who had approached the Vigilance Court to conduct a probe on the allegation that the state exchequer suffered a loss of Rs 15 crore in the purchase of dredger during Jacob’s tenure as Ports Director.
