Key accused in RSS worker’s murder taken into custody

A key accused in the killing of an RSS worker in Kannur was taken into custody, police said.

K. Anoop (34), a member of the left-leaning Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), was nabbed near the bus stand in Kannur on Tuesday morning, police said.

So far, five persons have been held in connection with the killing of Choorakad Biju, allegedly by leftist activists at Payyanur town in Kannur district on May 12.

The district has witnessed a series of clashes between the ruling CPI(M) and RSS for the last one year.

Biju was an accused in the killing of CPI(M) activist C.V Dhanraj in 2016.
