Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India, has announced a reduction in the prices of its Linea and Punto EVO cars.
This comes at a time when auto manufacturers have been increasing prices (still need to give an indication of how much in percent terms and Rupee terms)(you can read about them here hyperlink to the combined price hike story).
Hence, the news of Fiat reducing prices of its cars comes as a respite for prospective car buyers. To that end, Fiat has slashed the price of Linea, by up to 7.3 per cent while in Punto EVO’s case, the prices have been reduced by up to 7 per cent.
While reducing prices of Linea is a welcome move on Fiat’s behalf, it does not outright tell whether the Linea has become a better value proposition or not. On a closer look, the base variant of Linea comes with features such as fog lights front and back, a trunk light, higher ground clearance, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and brake assist.
The top variant of Linea gets touchscreen infotainment system with six speakers, disc brakes on all wheels, chrome exhaust tip, cruise control, and CD playback functionality on its infotainment unit.
With price reduction of its Linea and Punto EVO ranges, Fiat has solved a part of its problem.
The other and more important part of its problem is its after-sales services. To solve this problem, Fiat has undertaken several initiatives to ensure that owning its cars becomes hasslefree for users. One of them is launching a new dealer showroom format called Destination Stores. FCA India will have Jeep-exclusive and Fiat-Abarth-Jeep Destination Stores by mid-2017.
To enhance customer experience, FCA conducted customer outreach camps in 500 locations across India in 2016.
The company will continue this initiative in 2017. In addition to the outreach camps, the company will also conduct five mega service camps at its authorized dealerships throughout 2017.
