Demand for K.K Shailaja’s resignation continues

The Congress-led opposition in Kerala continued to demand the resignation of Minister for Health and Social Justice, K.K Shailaja over her nepotism charge.

The row pertains to the appointment of T.B Suresh, a member of the ruling CPI(M) from Wayanad as a commission member. Opposition has alleged that he has several criminal cases pending against him.

According to the High Court judgment, the Minister misused her position and extended the final date of application to appoint members to the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.

The court declared two appointments to the Commission as null and void.

Opposition had come into the Assembly with banners and placards demanding minister’s resignation. Protests were also organized outside the Assembly where Shailaja was shown black flags.
