Chana Dal- 1 cup
Rice- 1 cup
Green Chilli- 4-5 nos (slit vertically)
Red Chilli powder- ½ tbsp
Turmeric powder- ¼ tbsp
Asafoetida- ½ tbsp
Oil- 2-3 tbsp
Salt- to taste
1.Wash the chana dal in running water. Soak it overnight for 9-10 hours.
2.Soak the rice for an hour as well.Now, heat a rice cooker and add oil into it.
3.Once the cooker is heated, add green chillies till it gets roasted.
4.Now, add the red chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafoetida and salt into the cooker. Stir well.
5.In the meantime, drain the chana dal and rice separately.
6.Now, add the drained chana dal with water. Keep this in medium flame till you hear 3-4 whistles.
7.Once the dal is cooked well, add the drained rice into it. Do not add extra water now.
8.Ensure that the rice and dal is cooked well. Once it is done, stir mixture in the cooker.
Preparation Time– 9-10 hours
Cooking Time– 15-20 minutes
